Jamie Ball - Volume 1This photographic series explores a personal and attentive way of seeing, one that centres on overlooked subjects and the quiet presence of everyday spaces. It focuses on the ordinary scenes and objects that often go unnoticed or are dismissed as unremarkable. By isolating and framing these moments, the work invites a reconsideration of what is typically valued as “interesting” or worthy of attention. At its core, the project is about slowing down. Each image reflects a deliberate pause, an act of being present rather than simply passing through. This approach transforms the act of photographing into a kind of meditation, one that is both observational and introspective. The work is deeply personal, shaped by my own sensibilities and interpretations of beauty. Through careful composition and attention to detail, these scenes are re-presented in a way that emphasizes their subtle aesthetic qualities. Ultimately, the series functions as a quiet intervention. It asks the viewer to reconsider their surroundings and to find value in the overlooked. By presenting the “boring” as something contemplative and visually engaging, the project creates a space for reflection, both on the environment itself and on the ways we choose to see it.
